One more map activity

We have been lucky enough to be lent a giant map of Canada for our students to work with. We have had this map for three weeks now, and while I LOVE having this giant shipping tube in my classroom for the past 3 weeks (kidding, or course!) I, as well as the kids, will be sad to see it go.

We did one last activity today with the map where students were given cards with locations to locate. One side of the card had a picture, the other had the location and coordinates. For the first activity, students were asked to not look at the side with the location written. Instead, they were asked to find the location based on the picture alone. Students looked for clues, such as oceans, lakes, mountains, landmarks on their card.  They placed the cards on
their guess spot, and then were asked to look at the back of the cards. We were happy to see so many students guess the correct province, and even some who had the correct city. This showed real critical thinking skills!!
Information about the map can be found here.
