"Out of my mind" by Sharon Draper

Next week, 3/4I will be starting our first global read aloud.  This year, 3000 teachers have signed up to participate in the global read aloud.  These teachers will be reading one of the 4 books selected and having their classes reflect with one another, all during a 6 week time frame.

Our class will be reading Sharon Draper's "Out of my mind".

Our first activity with the book was to make some predictions based on the cover, the title and the information on the back.

Before officially starting the novel, students will get the opportunity to read what other classes have predicted the story will be about.

1) Predictions for "Out Of My Mind"
Group members Jason, Mahliyah, Alex, Sahil
I think a fish acts like a human. The fish feels different from the other fish. She's the only one who swim 's in a tank.

2) Predictions for "out of my mind"
Group members,  Jessica, Emily, Erica, Fernando.
Three of us think the fish was out of his mind and the other one thinks it's a metaphor or an expression for a fish out of water.  A fish out of water means you don't feel right.

3) Predictions "Out of my mind"
Group members Jenna, Ashkon, Angelique, Tristan.
I think she is thinking of a fish, the fish is her. She had no friends to talk with. She wanted to be free. She was the smartest person in her school. Nobody knew because  she couldn't talk.

4) Predictions for out of my mind
Group members- Tori, Mackenzie, Marriam, Kazim
Fish jumped out of the Bowl. It's about a girl and her pet fish. Or maybe she is a little girl that turns into a fish.

5) Predictions for out of my mind
Group members Ashley, Maria, Dian
I think theirs something that in her brain that's not letting her talk, until  some thing magic made her do the things she couldn't  do like talk and walk.
